“CHALLENGES OF THE FEMINIST AGENDA IN OUR CURRENT SOCIETIES”
University of Almería (Spain)
27-29 April 2022
The 5th edition of the International Conference Women, Culture and Society under the motto “Challenges of the Feminist Agenda in our Current Societies” is based, as the previous ones, on the deep conviction that it is necessary to promote Women’s Studies, Feminist Studies and Gender Studies in the various areas of knowledge so that societies can be articulated in terms of equality.
This edition is open to all academics and scholars who wish to contribute with their research papers –either face-to-face or online— to consider the challenges of feminism in the 21st century, both at the individual and collective levels. The aim is to eradicate in an efficient way the foundations of patriarchy, taking into account the situation of marginality that women experiment all around the world, not only because of gender issues, but also because of their ethnicity, social class, sexual orientation, age, functional diversity, etc. Similarly, proposals connected with feminist challenges of the past will be accepted, even if they have already been overcome.
Our guest speakers on our conference programme have devoted their writings and actions to the big challenge of dismantling the hegemonic system of male domination, and they will offer us proposals about how to organise the current feminist agenda to conform fairer and more egalitarian societies at a time characterised by the new technologies, digitalisation, social networks, migration, globalisation, the economic crisis, the polarisation of ideologies, etc.
