El nitrógeno (N) y su uso racional en los sistemas hortícolas
intensivos ha sido el pilar fundamental en el que se ha basado de mi carrera
investigadora; en los inicios recopilando la información necesaria para
implementar un modelo a escala regional que cuantifique los flujos de agua y N
consecuencia de la actividad hortícola bajo invernadero; y en los últimos años
evaluando sensores ópticos que determinan el estado de N en planta y
estableciendo niveles de suficiencia en distintos cultivos hortícolas para que
sea posible incorporarlos como una herramienta útil en la optimización del
manejo de N.
