Actualmente soy catedrática de Producción Vegetal en el Departamento de Agronomía de la Universidad de Almería. Mi actividad docente se centra en la programación del riego en cultivos hortícolas bajo invernadero y en modelización de cultivos con aplicaciones para el manejo del agua y N;  la mayor parte de mi docencia es a nivel de Máster. Mi actividad investigadora se centra en la modelización de los cultivos y la optimización del manejo del agua y N en los cultivos de hortícolas bajo invernadero  en el sureste español. Realicé el doctorado en la Universidad de Córdoba, sobre el desarrollo agronómico y las relaciones hídricas del nuevo cereal tritodeum. Posteriormente, realicé una estancia postdoctoral de 2 años en CSIRO, Perth, Australia, sobre señales radiculares en respuesta a la sequía de leguminosas y cereales, y luego estuve tres años contratada por la Universidad de California-Davis, donde trabajé en la programación del riego y modelización de la lechuga. Actualmente, además de la docencia y la investigación, también tengo responsabilidades administrativas en las comisiones  de máster y de investigación de la UAL.
