Description
The interest of Legal English lies in two main reasons:
‣ The peculiarity of the English legal system
‣ The challenge faced by the linguist when it comes to analysing the features and nature of this type of
language
The course is divided into three thematics blocks:
Block I – The English Legal System
‣ English legal sources
‣ Case law vs common law
Block II – Genres of the written means
‣ General characteristics of this type of language
‣ Syntax and morphology of legal English
‣ Legal vocabulary
Block III – Legal-administrative texts and documents
‣ Analysis of legal-administrative texts
