Language for Specific Purposes: English for Tourism

Description

The course explores the following issues:

    ‣ The need to go in depth in a specific use of the English language: tourist sector

    ‣ Education and training of the students in the English language for a constanly evolving labour sector

    ‣ Addressing the needs and demands of the province's tourist sector

The course is divided into three thematics blocks:

Block I – Travel and Tourism

    ‣ Intercultural competence

    ‣ Planning trips: needs and special requirements

    ‣ Museums and tourist guides

Block II – English for hotels and restaurants

    ‣ Complaint handling

    ‣ Monetary affairs

    ‣ Describing places: hotels, restaurants, and tourist resorts

Block III – Working for the tourist industry

    ‣ How to write up a CV and draft job application letters

    ‣ Job interviews
