Profile

Mª Elena García Sánchez is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Philology at the University of Almería. Dr. García Sánchez graduated at the University of Malaga and obtained her doctorate from the University of Granada (1999) with a thesis about the motivation in an English speaking classroom.  

   In 1994 she began her career as a teacher at the University of Granada. Since 1997 she has taught at the University of Almería. She served as Chair of the Department of English and German Philology of the University of Almería. Dr. García Sánchez has made several research stays in both the United Kingdom and the Unites States. She teaches Linguistics and Applied Linguistics in the English Studies and Humanities programmes as well as in the Master's Programme of Teaching in Secondary Education at the University of Almería. She has worked in the European project COMENIUS Acción 3.1: European in-service training projects, contract reference no. 71519-CP1-1999-1-AT-COMENIUS-C31, titled “BALL – A brain-friendly approach to language learning” and carried out during the 2000-2001 academic year.

   She was a member of the Research Project R&D National Total Bilinguism: Tracking on the university environment of the students coming from the bilingual secondary system (Interuniversity) from January 2009 to January 2012.  She has written several articles and book chapters. Her research is related to the field of the Applied Linguistics and the Psycholinguistics. The aim of her research is to analyse the teaching process and the learning of the English language in the classroom.
