Stable isotope analysis of aquifer water to determine sources of nitrate

Analysis of natural abundance N¹⁵ and O¹⁸ in water from the shallow aquifer in the Campo de Dalías and from drainage water from crops grown in soil and substrate has been conducted. Additionally, manure and samples of mineral fertilizer were analysed for their N¹⁵ content. From these data, the contribution of manure to nitrate contamination in the aquifer was determined.
