Realización de prácticas, tesis doctorales, trabajo post-doctoral
El Grupo de Carbohidratos y Proteínas de la Universidad de Almería ofrece la posibilidad de realizar prácticas, tareas de iniciación a la investigación, realizar trabajos de fin de carrera y máster, estancias cortas, tesis doctorales o trabajos postdoctorales a todos aquéllos que estén interesados siempre que haya plazas vacantes. Los interesados deben tener aptitud y disposición para abordar proyectos con espíritu creativo y determinación, deben estar motivados, han de estar dispuestos a trabajar en equipo, deben poseer un buen conocimiento de la química, e interés por la química orgánica, supramolecular y/o biofísica. Es conveniente que posean conocimientos de inglés, aunque para tareas de iniciación no es imprescindible.
El grupo cuenta con financiación privada y pública procedente de los gobiernos autonómicos, nacional y a nivel europeo.
Los nuevos miembros del grupo realizarán tareas de investigación en Química sintética y bioorgánica, Química de carbohidratos, Química supramolecular y/o química biofísica. El plan de formación incluirá 1) Síntesis Química, 2) Separación, purificación y caracterización de compuestos por HPLC, RMN y EM, 3) Expresión y purificación de proteínas, 4) Estudios de reconocimiento molecular mediante RMN, calorimetría, otras técnicas espectroscópicas y técnicas electroquímicas.
Aparte del equipamiento básico y la instrumentación de los laboratorios de síntesis orgánica y química física, la Universidad dispone de los siguientes equipos: Equipo de RMN con dos espectrómetros (300 MHz y 500MHz); Difractómetro de Rayos X, Servicio de espectrometría de masas, y dos calorímetros ITC y uno DSC.
Multifunctional Cyclodextrin Based Nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery
Project: (FP7-PEOPLE-2013-ITN) NANOCARRIERS FOR THE DELIVERY OF ANTIMICROBIAL AGENTS TO FIGHT RESISTANCE MECHANISMS
Description: The prospective candidate will carry out European-funded research (FP7, Marie Curie ITN Network) research on the synthesis and characterization of multifunctional Cyclodextrin Based Drug Nanocarriers and will operate in a network of highly specialized groups in chemistry, photochemistry, in vivo drug evaluation and in vivo applications from academia and industry. The research will involve development of methods for the multi-functionalization of noble metal NPs (i. e. gold and silver nanoparticles) and biocompatible polymer-containing nanoparticles, among others. Student’s duties will include carrying out research within synthetic bioorganic chemistry, carbohydrate chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and polymer chemistry. Students will be trained and involved in 1) Chemical Synthesis, 2) Separation, purification and characterisation of compounds by HPLC, NMR and MS; 3) Studies on molecular recognition using NMR, calorimetry, and electrochemical techniques; and 4) Preparation and characterization of nanoparticles. As part of the training program, the PhD student will spend short period secondments at the CNRS-Université Paris-Sud, France, and the company Cyclolab in Budapest, Hungary. In addition to the training through research, the PhD student will take part in workshops and summer schools organized within the project.Research Fields: Chemistry - Organic chemistry.

Profile eligibility: The prospective student should be a highly motivated person that is expected to pursue research in a multidisciplinary environment with enthusiasm and dedication.
The candidate must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work, studies, etc) in Spain for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her recruitment. Short stays, such as holidays, are not taken into account.
Graduate students (master's degree or equivalent) in chemistry and related disciplines with an interest in Organic Chemistry, Carbohydrate Chemistry and Nanochemistry with a good level of English are invited to apply.
