This International Conference is the 9th in a series that began 26 years ago. This triennial event will be also the 1st Congress of the recently established International Society for Applied Phycology (ISAP).

Following the Congress a Symposium on "Microalgal Products and Health", supported by the Foundation "Ramón Areces", will take place. This Symposium will be open, free of charge, to the participants of ISAP'02 Conference.
