About me

I am currently Associate Professor in the area of Applied Mathematics, Departament of Mathematics, at the University of Almería, and I belong to the ATOP Research Group: Approximation Theory and Orthogonal Polynomials. I am also a member of the UAL's Centre for the Development and Transfer of Mathematical Research to Industry CDTIME.

I participate in the Expert Course in Data Science,, taught online and organised by the CDTIME of the University of Almería.

Previously, I have also been Assistant Professor at the University Rey Juan Carlos (2018-2021), and postdoctoral (2014-2018) and predoctoral (2009-2014) researcher in several projects at the University of Almería, both in Applied Mathematics and Statistics.

Regarding my training, I have a PhD in Mathematics, a degree in Mathematics and a Technical Engineering degree in Computer Systems, and I have two official Master's degrees.

Research

I work on computational mathematical methods and modelling applications (numerical approximation techniques, numerical simulation, probabilistic modelling, scalable data analysis, stability and efficiency of algorithms, etc.). Part of it is oriented to the application of mathematical techniques for solving real-world problems in vision and environmental sciences.

I am currently working on the research projects New trends in Constructive Approximation: Theory and Applications (NETCATA) and Towards probabilistic trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (TOPAI)

I am part of the Research Group: Approximation Theory and Orthogonal Polynomials

If you are interested in doing a PhD or in any research collaboration, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Teaching

I teach courses on Numerical Methods and MATLAB® in the Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and the Bachelor's Degrees in Industrial Engineering. You can see some teaching videos on my YouTube channel:

I have also taught subjects on optimisation, calculus in one and several variables and differential and partial derivatives equations, mainly in Engineering, both at the University of Almeria and at the University Rey Juan Carlos.

For updated information about my teaching and tutorials, please consult the following link:

Institutional profile

Moreover, I develop teaching interactive apps, that you may see here.

If you are a student and want to do a Bachelor's or Master's thesis, or a PhD on topics related to my teaching or research, contact me with your proposal.

I also participate in the Expert Course in Data Science, taught online and organised by the CDTIME of the University of Almería.
