Virtual Lab for microalgae production in raceway reactors

This is a virtual lab about microalgae production in raceway photobioreactors, which can be used for the understanding of modelling and control aspects of the process, as well as for learning/teaching purposes. Any microalgae strain can be analyzed by setting the corresponding biological parameters. Moreover, a solar radiation model is included, allowing simulation at any location around the world. Manual and automatic operations for the dilution rate, harvesting rate, and control of the main variables as pH or dissolved oxygen can be simulated. The application can be run using any web browser and from any device: smartphone, tablet or computer. No additional software is required. A downloaded version is also available in case the user wants to run the virtual lab offline on the computer. The simulation results can be stored in an ASCII-format data file that can be loaded in any other environment, like MATLAB or spreadsheets.
