Juan Diego Gil
Juan Diego Gil was born in Almería, Spain, February 7, 1993. He received the degree in Industrial Electronics Engineering and the Master’s degrees in Industrial Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering from the University of Almería, Spain. In addition, he obtained a degree in Industrial Automation Engineering from the University of Brescia, Italy, within the double degree program "Mechatronics for Industrial Automation" established between both universities. He also holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Almería, Spain, awarded with the highest distinction cum laude and international mention.
He started working at the University of Almería in 2011 with a scholarship and since then he has been linked to the University. Currently, he is Associate Professor of automatic control and system engineering, and he belongs to the Automatic Control, Robotics and Mechatronics research group.
His main research interests include model predictive control, hierarchical control, and AI-driven control, with applications to solar-powered desalination systems, renewable energy-based systems, bioprocesses, and agricultural processes.
